Our mission is to enhance the childhood experience of children living in the Northwest Local School District area.
Our Mission
Our History
Nate's Toy Box was created in memory of Nathan Schroeder, who was killed in an automobile accident in 2005 at age 28. Among Nate's many great qualities were his love for children, love of reading and his never ending love of toys. From that love, Nate's Toy Box was born and each year it has brought joy and smiles to hundreds of children.
Since it was created in 2006, Nate’s Toy Box has provided toys and comfort items at Christmas and throughout the year to children of families experiencing hardships, crisis situations and difficult times. Partnering with S.O.N. (Serving Our Neighbors) Ministries food pantry, Northwest Local School District, local police, fire and EMS, families in need are identified. Businesses, churches, and individuals provide toys, games, books, blankets and comfort items for the children to provide hope, joy and excitement when it is most needed.
Nate’s Toy Box is dedicated to enriching the lives of local children and helping to ensure a positive childhood experience. Beginning in 2016, age appropriate books have been provided as part of a literacy initiative to get quality, positive books into the hands of children. Joining efforts with the Northwest Local School District, S.O.N. Ministries, Clippard Family YMCA, Side by Side Ministry and a collaboration of churches and businesses in our area, children are blessed in ways that otherwise may not have been possible.
